Apex Legends has plenty of upcoming content, and a series of leaked images rolled out today giving fans a sneak peek at some of the “Hero Anime” event skins.

You can check out some of the new outfits on Twitter, which include loads of fun little nods to classic anime characters:

Fans have enjoyed picking apart the references, since not all of the outfits are a complete match with their influences. However, the first look at Octane’s outfit is a pretty clear and creative spin on One Piece. So far, it’s received the most praise from both fans of the game and show.

Maggie just received one of her most unique and divisive skins to date, somewhat blending Godzilla with a Rathian from Monster Hunter. While some fans are happy with the boldness, others find the design a little too messy.

The next image shows off Wattson sporting a new epic or legendary skin that resembles some designs from Naruto, possibly referencing Jiraiya, Kakashi or both.

Another leak appears to show Crypto in Super Saiyan mode from Dragon Ball Z. The name of the outfit is “Strength and Power”, which definitely lines up.

One of the easier leaks to recognize includes a new Loba skin that’s inspired by Ultraman, which may be a little more niche, but they did recently get a new show on Netflix. Here’s the outfit, titled “Supreme Lupine”:

Many casual players are pleased with the designs, especially since such recognizable IP has rarely entered the game. Unfortunately, anime fans have been disappointed with how the outfits turned out, and how the IP was distributed.

This especially involves Crypto. After all, the potential is practically limitless, and the new outfits don’t necessarily deliver on such a big opportunity. However, expectations were high for anime tie-ins, and it was unlikely the event would please everyone.
