Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Ubisoft’s open world action-adventure game based on James Cameron’s hit films, has released a new trailer breaking down the PC features fans can expect. This includes raytraced reflections and shadows, PC benchmark tools, AMD FSR 2 support and more.

Last June, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora set a release date for December 7th, 2023, alongside its World Premiere trailer. It will be available on PC, Luna, PlayStation and Xbox. You can watch today’s PC trailer on the Ubisoft YouTube channel:

While reviews for the Avatar films may continue to be a little mixed, The Way of Water opened up some fascinating narrative paths and was ultimately considered more accessible thanks to the family dynamics. So, there’s still a big fanbase for these films, and they were certainly financially successful.

Either way, they were both technologically ambitious and impressive. Their drive to push visual effects, such as stunning motion capture, creates naturally high expectations for any game based on the IP. It needs to represent that same pursuit, and PC remains the go-to platform for special performance and technical features.

Fortunately, today’s trailer sounds pretty comprehensive. It teases some more obscure features that might intrigue PC fans that wouldn’t otherwise be interested in revisiting the Avatar franchise. The Ultra Wide Resolution, high refresh rates, and many-core CPU support should be pretty satisfying.

However, some fans are concerned about Frontiers of Pandora incorporating AMD as opposed to NVIDIA, whose DLSS technology has been a high bar for visual quality.

Pandora is a highly complex, thriving world with many different fauna, flora, and landscapes. It has extraordinary, even unusual potential to become a visual feast on PC. Hopefully, the game can live up to the justifiably high standards of PC players.
