After launching its full version on PC earlier this month, Baldur’s Gate 3 immediately took the gaming world by storm. This critically acclaimed D&D role-playing game, developed by Larian Studios, has earned immense praise for its rich and engaging narrative as well as its satisfying combat mechanics. BG3 is also scheduled to launch its PS5 version on September 6th.

Previously, Larian Studios confirmed their plan to bring Baldur’s Gate 3 to Xbox platforms. However, the developer remained cautious about announcing an exact release date for the Xbox version as they do not want to confirm it until they are ready, hinting that it might be slightly delayed compared to other platforms. The reason behind this delay is rooted in the technical issues that the development team has encountered, particularly concerning the inclusion of a split-screen co-op feature for the Xbox version of BG3.

In a recent revelation, Swen Vincke, the CEO and founder of Larian Studios, has officially confirmed that Baldur’s Gate 3 will be launching on Xbox Series X|S later this year. Vincke took to Twitter to share the exciting news, stating, “Super happy to confirm that after meeting @XboxP3 (Phil Spencer) yesterday, we’ve found a solution that allows us to bring Baldur’s Gate 3 to Xbox players this year still, something we’ve been working towards for quite some time.”

Vincke further elaborated that the Xbox port of Baldur’s Gate III will include all the enhancements and refinements previously introduced to the game, with split-screen co-op on Series X. Meanwhile, the Series S version will not feature split-screen co-op, but will also include cross-save progression between Steam and Xbox Series.

This announcement comes as a relief to Xbox fans eagerly awaiting the Xbox version of Larian Studios’ hit RPG. Finally, Xbox owners will be able to experience the massive content that Baldur’s Gate 3 has to offer on their consoles before the year ends.
