Love dogs? You’re not alone. These fluffy, lovable animals are mainstays in many homes (including mine!), so it’s only reasonable that some of us extra dog-loving folks might want to play video games with dogs in them, too. Hence, we have compiled a list of the five best video games with man and his dog as a loyal, furry companion.

Video Games with a Man and Dog

The most memorable and popular video game featuring a man and a dog has to be Fallout 4, but we also recommend considering Life is Strange 2, Fable II, Far Cry 5, and Metal Gear Solid V for all you canine-obsessed gamers out there.

Fable II has a loyal dog that stays with the player throughout the choices they make in the game. The dog also helps by locating items and assists during quests, making it an ally and more than just a mere companion in-game. In the open-world, you’ll explore Albion and have to make difficult choices, but you will have your faithful companion by your side!

Far Cry 5

Far Cry 5 starts off in Hope County, Montana, where there’s a fanatical doomsday cult known as Eden’s Gate that you must face off with to liberate the community from their hold. Boomer will be your ally throughout the game, and you can pet him and give him affection, but you’ll even be able to revive him if he gets wounded by an enemy.

Metal Gear Solid V

Metal Gear Solid V’s D-Dog is an ally to the protagonist, Snake, and helps to find different items and sniff out enemy locations as they bond throughout the game. Nine years after the events of MGSV: Ground Zeroes, Snake awakes from the coma he has been in for the last nine years. On a quest for revenge, he creates his own private army and pursues XOF.

Life is Strange 2

Life is Strange gives players the opportunity to interact with dogs through different episodes of the game, so while they are not necessarily with you for every moment of play, they are a larger part of the game’s storyline than in most. I mean, who doesn’t want to play a game where you get a collectible item simply by playing fetch with a dog?

We hope our list of the best video games featuring a man and his dog give you something to consider adding to your gaming arsenal!
