Blooming Business: Casino, a business sim inspired by old Las Vegas from developer Homo Ludens and publisher Curve Games, will officially launch on May 23rd, 2023. It will be available on PC via Steam, where players can try out a demo now. You can watch a brief interview with the devs in a new release date video on the Curve Games YouTube channel:
Blooming Business: Casino wisely chose to exclusively feature animal characters, so that it feels a little closer to Animal Crossing: New Horizons rather than the movie Casino. After all, this sim intentionally devoted a lot of ties to retro Las Vegas, with characters like Ant’ny Barr revealed to be the head of a crime family in today’s trailer.
But even some of the darker material and backstories all come with a playful sense of humor. Aside from amusing relationships and names, the art design is colorful, cute, and a bit silly for a nice contrast.
Blooming Business: Casino feels more flexible than other sim games. The mechanics themselves seem to be nicely balanced, with more density than the visuals might suggest. The game should offer just enough complexity to appease longtime fans of the genre, while keeping everything fairly streamlined for newcomers.
Curve Games also released a teaser for Blooming Business: Casino’s Sandbox Mode today. Players won’t have to worry about their career and missions in that mode, so they can focus on creativity instead. Here’s the full trailer from Curve Games’ YouTube channel:
This option isn’t always afforded in the simulation genre, which pushes players to complete tasks and upkeep in order to keep them engaged. A sandbox may not be quite so entertaining here compared to theme park simulators and the like, but there do seem to be plenty of decorations to toy with, since everything will be unlocked.
