Call of Duty fans have had the last week to enter an ongoing digital illustration contest, and the first two early bird winners have been announced. But there’s still another week to go, and three more winners to be decided, so you still have a chance to jump in.
Here’s the congratulatory tweet from Call of Duty’s official feed:
Purists have been irritated that the Operation Monarch event has intruded on the traditional realism of the franchise, but it also invited more casual players just before the hotly anticipated Modern Warfare 2.
Godzilla and Kong themselves are just interactive enough for players to feel immersed, and Talent House invited Call of Duty fans to show off their artistic inspiration from the clash of these titans.
The current winners are Chris Kemp, a freelance illustrator and graphic designer from the UK, and Scotty Bates from Australia.
Contest Details breakdown
If you’d like to submit your own fanart, you’ll have until May 25th to enter. Winning creators will be rewarded with $2,000 USD per work, and some posters may even join the official marketing.
It’s important to note that you must feature Godzilla and Kong as they appear in the 2021 film, and you’ll have to include them in the familiar Warzone Pacific world.
So, your poster can’t have any inspiration from earlier monster iterations, and it’s expected to be both gritty and epic. Before getting started, you may want to consider recording the process, because time lapses are welcome.
The novelty of Godzilla and Kong is wearing thin in-game, as players have begun to focus more on the Battle Royale than the Titans again.
After all, focusing on the Titans tends to get you killed while you’re distracted, and SCREAM devices have basically broken the final zone. But the audio of Godzilla’s roar is undeniably terrifying, and Kong’s map traversal allows more immersion.
So, be sure to drop in and find your own inspiration if you’d like to test your digital art skills. You can find more great content about Call of Duty in our dedicated news section!
