Call of Duty has officially released the full patch notes for Season 02 of Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0. The brand-new season will go live today at 9 AM pacific time.

Some highlights from the new season include loadout adjustments, private Warzone matches, and the return of Resurgence. Here’s the tweet from developer Infinity Ward’s official feed, which includes a link to the full patch notes:

As expected, today’s new season is an absolutely massive update. One of the most requested features was the addition of private matches, which is definitely going to bolster player count.

Private matches are going to help newcomers practice with their teammates. Call of Duty is notoriously competitive, and matchmaking isn’t exactly perfect. Also, private matches will let streamers connect with their audiences, and even create their own kinds of silly fun. The feature was only recently added to free-to-play shooter Apex Legends, and there are already lots of hide-and-seek videos online.

The new season also brings a terrific Battle Pass, beginning with a themed event inspired by Bushido, which is both highly respected and fascinating. You’ll get three challenges today, with two more each subsequent week.

Renowned community account CharlieIntel has reported that Ashika Island is going to have various Easter Eggs, some of which could be added later on in the season:

Ashika Island has a gorgeous layout, and it’s created a lot of buzz with each of its reveals and the new gameplay trailer from earlier this month. It should be ideal for the anticipated return of Resurgence, which requires very unique maps to accommodate its fast pacing.

There are countless new balancing changes, weapons, and quality of life changes. These are all going to be pretty subjective, and even the bug fixes could have addressed some more urgent issues. However, it’s clear that Season 02 is very ambitious, and should please most longtime fans.
