Cities: Skylines II has just released the latest Feature Highlight episode, this time breaking down the key camera tools like Free Camera photo mode and a Cinematic mode that lets you film, save, and share video clips.
Developed by Colossal Order and published by Paradox Interactive, Cities: Skylines II launches onto PC, Xbox, and PlayStation on October 24th, 2023. You can watch today’s new feature highlight on the Cities: Skylines YouTube channel:
Cities: Skylines II has slowly concentrated on increasingly minor aspects of the game, and even the game progression trailer was pretty thin, so today’s highlight might not interest some.
But these trailers still manage to show how the series is evolving, and the graphics will surely impress longtime fans who already enjoyed the visuals of the 2015 predecessor. Camera tools are a relaxing and rewarding way to experience the city you’ve built.
Today’s trailer explores the Free Camera and Cinematic modes. Free Camera includes in-depth adjustable settings for the camera body, lens, aperture shape, focal length and more. There are also some obligatory photo settings like blur and vignette, or color adjustments.
While these features add up to a decent photo editor, getting to alter the environment and weather conditions is definitely a neat tool that makes the most of the sim genre.
Cinematic mode will probably impress players most. While it’s similarly a basic video editor that lets you edit camera positions and transitions, it’s still a convenient feature. And today’s trailer reveals that the devs used the in-game tool to make all of the feature highlights. There have been some incredible shots in these highlights, so players will surely get creative.
It’s fortunate that fans can share their videos with the community. Not only will this make you feel prouder of your city, and part of a larger fandom, but it could also encourage you to try out some filmmaking skills.
