Traffic breathes life into any sim, by making the world feel genuinely busy and populated. But there have been some serious snags. Fortunately, the sequel has listened to the fans and elaborated accordingly.
Today’s trailer explains that Traffic AI will be directed by “pathfinding cost”, which now offers four different ways for the AI to decide on the ideal path to take. These include time, comfort, parking, and behavior, which can even result in rerouting. This has far more flexibility than ever, creating a more plausible and fluid system that closely ties into your design process.
Traffic info view is going to be a great addition too. Offering a broad overview of current conditions will make traffic much easier to manage. This should help balance out all of the dangerous road conditions in Cities: Skylines II, where the environment is more imposing because it’s more elaborate. Traffic accidents are both a thrilling and daunting feature.
The original game launched in 2015, but it was robust and potent enough to remain popular all this time. It’s a relief to see that Cities: Skylines II continues to impress, and it’s already promising to be the high-powered replacement that fans were hoping for.
