Conan Exiles has launched the first chapter of its “Age of War” update, marking a new chapter in the game’s ongoing saga. The update incorporates adjustments to combat, the addition of clan hoards, and the introduction of clan emblems.
The Age of War chapter ushers in a slew of modifications to the combat system. An overhauled enemy balance offers a more gratifying battle experience, while the revamped stamina costs now shape the rhythm of combat. Further changes incorporate a new item repair system and alterations to stun mechanics.
The Age of War update also introduces the “Clan Hoards” feature. This addition allows players to secure treasures and exhibit them as distinct placeable trophies within their bases. Depending on the success of their plundering, the treasures can be stored and utilized in subsequent chapters.
Complementing the clan hoards, the update introduces “Clan Emblems”. Players can now forge a sense of unity with their clan by selecting a unique symbol to represent their collective identity. These emblems can be displayed on banners, armor, shields, and more.
As part of the rollout, the Age of War roadmap has also been revealed. However, it should be noted that not all the upcoming content is disclosed in this roadmap, indicating more developments to come.
The “Age of War” update brings changes to the game’s performance and stability. The game builds now utilize a shipping configuration instead of a test configuration. The update also addresses a persistent “Connection lost” issue and includes several other optimizations and crash fixes.
Numerous known exploits within the game have been rectified with this update, improving overall gameplay. Furthermore, the update includes new additions like Clan Totems, a workstation used for creating and displaying clan emblems.
Clan Hoards, a major new feature, allows players to hunt for treasure and display it in their base. A variety of challenges are integrated into this feature, providing players with objectives like applying a Clan Emblem, building a Coffer, claiming a heavy treasure, and contributing to a Coffer value over specific thresholds.
The update also introduces the new “Age of War Chapter 1 Battle Pass” that includes new pets, armor, emotes, and more. Rewards are focused on Stygian and Nordheimer lore, including the new Stygian War Tent Set and Nordheimer and Stygian armors.
This update includes numerous fixes across different aspects of the game such as building, crafting, combat, and AI. These include but are not limited to, adjustments to foundations, tweaks to certain placeables, modifications to the damage output of weapons, and addressing issues with NPC textures.
Balance updates are a crucial part of this release. Several systems have been adjusted to make the game more dynamic, tactical, and lethal. The game has been enriched with item recategorization, adjustments to stamina costs and regeneration, weapon changes, and enemy enhancements.
Quality of Life improvements are integral to the update, bringing in significant refinements to the game. These enhancements include target lock fixes, a new diving animation, and gamepad/controller rebinding support, amongst others.
