Deep Rock Galactic, the cooperative first-person shooter game noted for its unique combination of space Dwarves, fully destructible environments, procedurally-generated caves, and relentless alien monsters, has recently teased details about its upcoming Season 04: Critical Corruption in a fresh trailer.
The battle against the persistent Lithophage, a constant threat on the planet Hoxxes, has made significant progress in recent months. However, despite the best efforts, alarming reports suggest the emergence of new mutations. The Lithophage seems to be evolving in response to the presence and activities of the players, posing increased danger for future missions.
One of the notable changes in Season 04 includes the evolution of the previously encountered Plague Hearts into Lithophage Corruptors. These monstrous beings are capable of spreading Rockpox wherever they go and appear immune to conventional gunfire. Miners must rely on Cleansing Equipment to penetrate their exterior shells and target their soft inner core. However, these Corruptors are no easy target and will actively defend themselves when threatened.
The infection doesn’t stop with the Corruptors. More strains of Hoxxes’ wildlife have succumbed to the Rockpox, leading to the emergence of infected Mactera Bombers and Naedocyte Breeders. These new variants are more hostile than their regular counterparts, and they also contribute to the spread of Rockpox.
Notably, new monsters have been detected in the depths of Hoxxes. The Glyphid Stingtail, an armored beast with a grabbing tail and formidable horns, poses a significant threat to miners. Similarly, the Glyphid Septic Spreader, a distant relative of the Glyphid Spitter, discharges globules of damaging biomatter, increasing the perilous nature of the Hoxxes environment.
Despite the escalating challenges, R&D provides support with the introduction of Jet Boots. Miners can now recover jet modules from the caves and attach them to their boots, enhancing their maneuverability during challenging situations.
Additional upgrades include a training terminal installed in the Space Rig, which allows miners to practice for the coded locks found on Jet Boot crates. The Abyss Bar is also introducing a new brew named Randoweisser. This adventurous drink is said to inspire a sense of challenge, leading to unique decisions regarding equipment and uniform loadout. A new randomisation feature has been added to the Loadout Terminal, further facilitating this aspect.
The Wardrobe is getting an upgrade for the upcoming summer, allowing miners to toggle between sleeveless versions of all owned armor sets. Season 04 also introduces a new Season Pass that brings an updated Cosmetic Tree, hundred new levels of gear, victory moves, weapon frameworks, and crafting materials to unlock, along with the usual Scrip Challenges.
A new cosmetic pack, The Decontaminator Pack, featuring a fresh Weapon Framework, is also set to be released. Players are assured that anything missed from previous seasons will be included in existing loot pools, ensuring no content is lost permanently.
As Deep Rock Galactic gears up for Season 04: Critical Corruption, players are encouraged to prepare themselves for the increased risks, evolving enemies, and exciting new gameplay elements on the horizon. Mission Control ends the update with the iconic catchphrase “Rock and Stone!” signaling miners to get ready for the next adventurous phase.
