Blizzard Entertainment has unexpectedly announced a new open beta for Diablo 4, set to run from May 12th to the 14th. This follows the company’s recent announcement of substantial changes to the game based on player feedback from the Early Access and Open Beta weekends in March. The game has also gone gold, confirming its official launch date for June 6th.

Players can look forward to trying out all available classes, including Rogue, Barbarian, Sorcerer, Necromancer, and Druid. The beta allows gameplay up to level 20, providing an opportunity to explore the first zone, Fractured Peaks, as well as experience the prologue and Act 1. Participants will be eligible for various rewards at the game’s official launch, such as the Beta Wolf Pack cosmetic item.

To earn these rewards, players must accomplish specific milestones. The Initial Casualty Title is obtained by reaching Kyovashad with one character, while the Early Voyager Title requires leveling one character to 20. Similarly, the Beta Wolf Pack Cosmetic Item can be earned by reaching level 20 with one character. Players who defeat the Ashava World Boss using a level 20 character will receive the Cry of Ashava Mount Trophy.

For those who have already participated in the Early Access and Open Beta weekends, there is no need to re-earn previously obtained rewards. The Ashava World Boss will be available starting May 13 at 9 a.m. PDT, spawning every three hours until the final spawn on May 14 at 9 a.m. PDT.

Blizzard has taken user feedback from various platforms, such as forums, Reddit, and Discord, to make comprehensive updates to Diablo 4. The changes target dungeons, classes, user interface (UI), and encounters, and will be included in the game’s launch on June 6th, with the aim of providing an enhanced gaming experience.

Dungeon updates were made in response to feedback regarding backtracking in dungeons, particularly in the Fractured Peaks zone. Blizzard has optimized several dungeons, increased the chance of events spawning from 10% to 60%, and made numerous adjustments to streamline gameplay. These changes include reducing channel times for depositing Animus, rescuing, and returning portable objects to their pedestals, as well as granting a 25% move speed increase to players carrying specific Objective items.

Changes to classes include updates for Barbarians, Druids, Necromancers, Rogues, and Sorcerers. General adjustments consist of extending the duration of effects like Stun and Freeze on Elite Monsters and ensuring all classes have access to skills that remove control impairing effects. Each class has also received specific updates, such as damage reduction for Barbarians, increased damage for Druid Companion Skills, reduced damage for Necromancer’s Corpse Explosion skill, and enhanced bonuses for Rogue’s Subterfuge Skills.

UI improvements feature bug fixes, a new serif font, enhanced screen reader functionality, and the ability to bind actions to the mouse wheel or right analog stick on a controller. Additionally, character stats will now be displayed by default when players click the Materials & Stats button within their inventory.

Lastly, encounter changes address issues with bosses like the Butcher, who could become unresponsive, and provide difficulty re-evaluations for bosses such as T’chort, Malnok, and Vhenard for melee characters. Cellar updates comprise an increased chance of dungeon events occurring, consistent rewards, and fixes for issues related to premature completion and missing elite monsters.
