Disney Speedstorm, an upcoming kart game featuring popular Disney and Pixar characters, has revealed it will let players earn and equip unique victory animations. A new teaser accompanied the announcement, showing off in-game footage of the animations in action.

Disney Speedstorm was recently delayed until this year, and a new release date hasn’t been confirmed. It will be available on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and the Nintendo Switch. Here’s the full tweet from today’s update:

These victory animations are likely one of the “customization offerings” that the devs cited as a cause for delay in November’s honest post.

Victory animations are a fun little way for players to customize. You can really rub it in against competitors, and the characters get a chance to feel more thematic. The IP is the true selling point of this game, after all, since it hardly looks to revolutionize the kart genre that Mario Kart continues to dominate.

It’s great to see Beast’s signature roar, and other thematic rewards. But it remains unclear if each character will only be able to unlock personal animations, or if there will also be universal emotes.

If there aren’t any, then players will likely need to race with every character to unlock individual animations. And judging by the disparate roles Disney Speedstorm has teased, that may be a little annoying. It’d be nice to have victory animations that are usable across different racers, too.

Disney Speedstorm tried to soften the blow of its big delay with a small cinematic trailer last month, which revealed unique courses and abilities. Hopefully, a new release window will be announced soon, since everything already seems fairly polished. The basic mechanics and detailed graphics that have been released so far look promising, and fans of the expansive IP should be pleased.
