Dome Keeper, the indie mining and shooter survival game from developer Bippinbits and publisher Raw Fury, has released the complete patch notes for today’s new v2.4 “Springloaded” Update.
Like previous updates, Springloaded will be free. It will feature new run modifiers, three new gadgets, and a wide variety of improvements addressing bugs and quality of life. The patch notes were accompanied by a new trailer for the update, which you can review on Raw Fury’s official YouTube channel here:
Dome Keeper first launched last September, and added regular free updates until December. Since then, things have slowed down, but Springloaded has many welcome additions. The Spire, Autocannon, and Prospection Meter are going to be major new advantages both above and below ground.
This will make the game friendlier, which may disappoint fans of the challenge. In fact, there are a variety of changes in Springloaded that will alleviate the game’s urgency, such as the potential auto heal upgrades and wave warner upgrades. They definitely live up to the update’s title.
But these changes also further distinguish the game from its Missile Command premise, elaborating on key mechanics that may have been a little unbalanced to begin with. Instead, there will be even more of a focus on management, in order to secure the best upgrades.
Perhaps one of the most overlooked improvements in today’s update will be telemetry. The fact that the devs even invested in this is a great sign of a bright future for the game. Collecting key information from players will allow the devs to more consistently improve what actually makes a difference in-game. The numbers speak for themselves, however useful feedback can be.
