Dreamworks All-Star Kart Racing gameplay reveal did more than just show off a game. While it seems plain and simple at first, the level of quality during the race made us immediately think of Mario Kart. The work with colors, interesting stages, and the level of detail all around is incredible.

The Dreamworks All-Star Kart Racing Gameplay reveal video showcases all of the new things brought to the game. The game is being developed by GameMill Entertainment, and it’s definitely got Mario Kart in its scope.

We only got to see 16 characters from Dreamworks movies, but the scroll bar looks like its holding a much longer list. The movies included are How To Train Your Dragon, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, and of course, Shrek. These are the A-List movies, but I suspect we may see some smaller ones like Antz. With respect to Pixar, this has a huge animated cast.

Each course has been designed with turns and shortcuts to a level that I personally didn’t expect to see. I’m going to be honest, I didn’t expect this level of quality and I’m pretty sure most other gamers didn’t either. It’s legitimately making me think that Dreamworks wanted this game to compete with Mario Kart.

Like in Mario Kart, after choosing a character, you get to design the racing kart. You choose the wheels, body, chassis, spoilers, and engine. You get power-ups to use in the tracks, which are the best parts. The tracks really rival those made by Nintendo. Just the short look makes me feel like every track is intense and worth going through.

I’m not being generous either, I came into this gameplay reveal expecting shovelware. It looks really good and fun, and while I don’t really expect it to take out Mario Kart, I do expect more games to see that there is a competition that could be had here.
