Dress to Impress Winter Quest Walkthrough Chapter 1

To start the Winter Quest, click Server at the top-left of your screen, then select Join next to Winter Quest and confirm.

After loading in, you’ll see a postcard. Wait for the writing to appear, then hit Begin. Walk into the North Pole Station, find the Chapter 1 train, and choose how many players you want to play with. You can play solo, in a duo, with four people and eight people. I played with my niece and it was fun!

After a long intro that you can’t skip, you’ll get your first task: finding Santa’s Workshop.

How to Find Santa’s Workshop

  • When you spawn, look around for a signpost labeled Santa’s Workshop.
  • Follow the direction the sign is pointing. It’s super obvious and easy to spot. This isn’t like Lana’s family home—you won’t get lost!
  • Once you reach the pink portal entrance, a cutscene will trigger automatically. You don’t even have to walk through it.

Santa’s Workshop

Inside the workshop, you’ll need to fill gifts. You only have two minutes to complete this, and the number of gifts scales with the number of players in your group. For example:

  • 2 players = 14 gifts (7 each).
  • 4 players = 28 gifts (7 each).

Here’s how it works:

  • Look at the conveyor belt: Gifts will appear with an icon above them, showing which toy(s) they need.
  • Grab the correct toy: Find it in the pile in the middle of the room. Each toy has a picture on it, so you’ll know what’s inside.
  • Fill the gift: Place the required toy(s) into the present. Some might need one toy, while others need three.

At first, this can feel confusing, but you’ll quickly get the hang of it. My niece needed a bit of help here, but once we noticed the toy pictures, it got much easier!

How to Complete the Candy Forest Obby

Once you finish filling the gifts, you’ll face an icy lake obby (obstacle course). This part is tricky and can be especially tough on mobile or tablet. If you fall into the icy water, you’ll freeze. Here’s how to unfreeze:

  • A red bar will appear with a moving line with appear at the bottom of the screen. Press/click when the line when it’s over the green section. Repeat this a few times until the red temperature bar becomes full.
    • However, you only have 30 seconds to unfreeze yourself.
  • You’ll restart at the beginning of the obby after unfreezing.

You must finish the obby in one perfect run to succeed. If one player completes it, the entire group is teleported to the next section.

Obby Breakdown:

  1. Jumping Over Sweets: The first section involves jumping across giant sweets on the lake. Take your time.
  2. Bouncy Sweets: Bounce on sweets to reach the next ones. Be patient and aim carefully. My niece had a tough time here, but bouncing on the same sweet a couple of times before moving forward really helped her.
  3. Smaller Sweets & Spinning Candy Canes: Navigate smaller platforms while avoiding spinning candy canes. These can knock you into the water if you’re not careful.
  4. Swinging Candy Canes: These swing pretty slowly, so time your jumps carefully. You can land on chocolate bits in the lake but move quickly before the candy canes swing back.
  5. Peppermint Wall: Climb up by jumping from one peppermint to the next.

Patience is key for the entire obby. If one player reaches the end, the whole group will teleport forward, so not everyone has to complete it.

Riding a Reindeer

After the obby, you’ll ride a reindeer toward an icy cave. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Move left and right as you move forward on your reindeer.
  • Avoid hitting snowmen and presents, as these will stun you for a few seconds.
  • Go through Christmas wreaths for a speed boost.
  • Only one person needs to reach the white wall at the end for everyone to move on.

Picking a Sleigh

Inside the icy cave, you’ll pick between three sleighs. To choose the correct path:

  • Hop into the rightmost sleigh (Sleigh #3).
  • If you choose the wrong sleigh, you’ll return to the start of the cave and can pick again.

Opening the Sealed Door

To open the sealed door, you’ll perform a quick-time event similar to unfreezing in the obby:

  • Walk up to the door, and a red gauge will appear.
  • Press/click when the line is in the green part. Do this several times to open the door.
  • On mobile/tablet, there might be a delay, so press just before the line reaches the green.

Defeating the Boss Santa Claus

The final challenge is a boss fight against Santa Claus. Here’s the breakdown:

  • Player Hearts: Each player has 3 hearts. You lose half a heart per hit, so you can take up to six hits. If you die, you’ll turn into an icicle. Teammates can revive you by standing next to your icicle until the respawn bar fills up.
  • How to damage Santa: To damage Santa you need to throw presents that appear on the floor back at Santa by pressing E or clicking on them.
    • However, these presents are timed and will explode after a while, so be quick!

Phase 1:

  • Santa summons icy waves that spread out in a circle. Jump over them while throwing presents at him that.
  • Presents will spawn around the arena. Press E or click to pick them up and throw them at Santa.
  • Red Circles: These appear on the ground. Avoid them to prevent damage.
  • Ice Tornadoes: These don’t deal damage but will knock you back. Be careful not to land in a red circle.

Phase 3:

  • Santa breaks the floor and turns evil, summoning shadows to attack you.
  • Blackened Floor: 60% of the floor turns black. Move to the white areas to stay safe.
  • Shadow Reindeer: These charge across the floor. Avoid them by moving to safe zones.
  • Red Line Lock-On: If a red line appears on you, keep moving to avoid getting hit.

Keep throwing presents until Santa’s health is fully depleted.

Winter Quest Rewards

After defeating Santa, you’ll get a cutscene party. The reward is a blue dress, that looks very much like Elsa’s dress from Frozen! Which you can find in the dressing room. My niece and I didn’t receive any other items, so I believe that’s the only prize.
