EastAsiaSoft, the developer best known for their entries in the Sword and Fairy franchise and the Pretty Girls series, has just teased around a dozen upcoming projects in a new Spring 2023 showcase.
These key titles include two new installments for the Pretty Girls series, as well as some compelling indies. Most of the projects now have a concrete release date between March and April, which are conveniently listed at the end of the showcase. You can watch the full showcase on EastAsiaSoft’s official YouTube channel here:
EAS has always had some questionable titles like Moe Waifu H, which feel a little tacky and don’t rely on gameplay enough. But there are plenty of creative little titles in today’s showcase which look promising, and it was nice that just about all of them got a release date.
Only Laserpitium and Gravitators were left with a simple 2023 window, but given they were featured in a spring showcase, a release date should be revealed sometime soon. After all, EAS hosted an early 2023 showcase just last month. Note that some of those titles got a release date in today’s new showcase, such as Hyper-5 releasing on April 12th, 2023.
Tricky Thief may look very small, but its core mechanics should definitely please longtime Pokémon fans. Early Pokémon gens included a lot of gyms with similar puzzle minigames, where players needed to slide across entire rooms in the correct order to progress. Tricky Thief looks very simple but charming.
Omen of Sorrow was also a highlight, given how many new features it’ll have, particularly online cross-play. It’s already sort of a cult classic, so broadening the potential audience should make it more enjoyable. The variety of platforms for many of today’s titles is a welcome pace for EAS.
Meanwhile, Neko Rescue Tale smartly combines retro platforming with adorable animals. It’s a little manipulative, but animal-lovers won’t complain, and they should enjoy a breezy indie like this.
