French game developer Amplitude Studios, known for their work on Humankind and the Endless franchise, has just announced a new Insiders Program. The new program will give members special access to betas, builds, playtests and even an opportunity to contact the devs themselves.
Action roguelite Endless Dungeon, developed by Amplitude Studios and published by SEGA, was recently delayed until October 19th for polishing. So, it served as the primary example for upcoming content that members could delve into. You can watch today’s new trailer for the Insiders Program on the official SEGA YouTube channel:
Amplitude Studios continues to smartly involve their fanbase with this new program, which should definitely result in a better sense of community. Many times, it is communication that falters and breaks trust with players.
With the Insiders Program, players will have an even deeper chance to directly impact the final products. It’s a rare and highly intriguing gesture that elaborates on the Early Access process, and Amplitude Studios might encourage other studios to follow suit.
You’ll only have the chance to get in the program after signing up, though, and it’s unclear if applications will be chosen randomly or not. The official sign-up page carefully stresses that only “a select group” will be included at this time. But the members will get to test current and future games before launch, and it also happens to be free of charge.
According to today’s trailer, application results can be expected in just a few days, so it’s clear that Amplitude is going all-in with the new feature. It’ll be interesting to see just how the studio is able to balance out all of the new player influence with their original artistic intent.
