Cry Babies Magic Tears: The Big Game, based on the hit animated series for kids, will officially launch on September 22nd, 2023. Developed by Drakhar Studio and published by Merge Games, an official post confirms it will be available on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Today’s new trailer description adds that you’ll get a free sticker sheet if you wait a week and purchase the game in stores from September 29th, 2023. You can watch today’s new trailer on the Merge Games YouTube channel:
Cry Babies Magic Tears is exclusively and proudly catering to the youngest audience, but parents who are familiar with the dolls and series might still consider this.
It certainly looks like a breezy way for kids to pass the time with their favorite IP, and it does seem like a straightforward adaptation of the source material. According to the Steam page, kids will be able to play as 15 different characters, and there’ll be familiar locations from the show.
Unfortunately, the gameplay still looks pretty generic, reduced to a handful of minigames and customization that may not have the replayability that the devs hoped for. There will be hide and seek, dancing, and taking photos, but at least there will be some mazes and puzzles.
Cry Babies Magic Tears: The Big Game seems more likely to fall into the category of typical kid-oriented games like the Rainbow High: Runway Rush game, which releases next month.
It doesn’t really take the opportunity to incorporate anything especially academic like Dolphin Spirit – Ocean Mission, which also launches in September, nor the fast-paced world of The Sisters 2: Road to Fame that arrives in October.
Cry Babies Magic Tears: The Big Game should help kids waste a little time with characters they enjoy, but probably nothing more, though cooperative gameplay is appreciated for families.
