Fate/Samurai Remnant, the upcoming action RPG set in Edo Japan from Koei Tecmo Games, has officially released a second trailer. It is mostly cinematic, featuring a wide variety of characters and their central conflicts. But there are some new glimpses of gameplay, which the first trailer focused on.
Fate/Samurai Remnant is set to launch on September 29th, 2023, for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. There’s currently no word on an Xbox port. Besides the standard version, there will also be a physical Treasure Box edition, and a Digital Deluxe Edition. You can watch today’s new trailer on the Koei Tecmo America YouTube channel here:
Fate/Samurai Remnant largely promises to distinguish itself through elaborate and sprawling lore, and exploration will play a big role in the gameplay. So, although today’s trailer might disappoint fans who were hoping to learn more about the mechanics, it does give motivation, context, and scope to the battles ahead.
The central plot revolves around the Waxing Moon Ritual, which players will aim to win as the ronin Miyamoto Iori and his servant Saber. The new characters in today’s trailer, like Archer and Assassin, now have small bios on Fate/Samurai Remnant’s official website.
The new trailer is full of memorable costume designs and weaponry, well-staged action, and dialogue that feels larger than life. Fans of the genre should certainly be pleased. Those who want to learn more about gameplay can refer to a lengthy PlayStation blog from last month.
Since launch is approaching soon, and it’s only been a month since the first trailer, fans can probably expect at least one more in August. The devs may not be revealing too much, but some titles overdo it and don’t leave enough to discover in-game.
