While other esports organizations and games are winding down their services, Fortnite hasn’t slowed down with its scheduled competitions. However, it seems that Epic Games is making a big change and is planning to get rid of the Siphon in Fortnite‘s tournaments moving forward, following the next two events.

In an update post to the Fortnite Status Twitter account, Epic Games states that following the v25.20 update, Siphon will be active during the rest of the FNCS Major 3 and the Last Chance Major, but all other Fortnite tournaments after that will be returning to the previous setting without Siphon. This means that players won’t heal from eliminations, but will need to use healing items.

The Siphon in Fortnite is a great tool that awards players with shields when they eliminate someone else, allowing for more endurance during fights with multiple people. With this new change, players will need to play smart and try to avoid getting hit at all when fighting against multiple opponents. This is sure to change the late game and ensure that only those with the best build and movement are the winners.

Fortnite is only adding Siphon back for a limited time following tomorrow’s update and it’s unclear why it will only be for a limited time. More major news about the v25.20 update from early this morning includes that Fortnite and Futurama will be getting a crossover as part of the update. The servers are expected to go down at 2 am PT, with the update released a few hours later.
