According to some leaks, Fortnite should finally release a new Galaxy Cup that will run between July 16th and July 17th, 2022. The tournament was last seen in 2021.
Here’s one of the leaks, which credits some other sources and includes images of the corresponding items:
The “Galaxy Cup” was named after the Samsung Galaxy, because the tournament was only available to owners of that model. For now, it’s unclear if the tournament will be exclusive to Samsung Galaxy users again, but it’s very likely.
Fortunately, the same leaker shown above has noted that the cosmetics include an Item Shop tag, so they should be available in the shop at some point.
Some fans aren’t very happy with the outfit, because it doesn’t have many details that embrace the theme. In fact, the skin is generally plain, which is strange for such a niche tie-in. But almost everyone agrees that the pickaxe is unique and worthwhile.
Last year, the Android Galaxy Cup 2.0 tournament was a solo competition, featuring the Arsenal limited time mode. In this LTM, all players begin the match with the same powerful weapon, which is gradually replaced by weaker weapons for every elimination.
Every day of the tournament, the top players of all seven competitive regions were rewarded with an exclusive outfit.
Participating in five games rewarded players with a Galaxy Wrap. So, the rules are expected to remain consistent.
Unlocking the new skin and pickaxe may require fans to become a top-performing player. For example, players in the North America East region needed to reach the top 7,500.
Most fans seem to appreciate the return of the Galaxy Cup, but it is disappointing that the summer season isn’t getting as much attention as it could be.
