Fortnite is constantly updating as developer Epic Games introduces new content and mechanics meant to shake up the formula. As part of the 25.10 update, Epic added some new weapons but also accidentally implemented a number of bugs into the game as well. The latest is causing servers to go down, leaving many players stuck on the loading screen with the four characters.
Data miners were the first to notice the servers going down, with HYPEX tweeting that the servers were down at 11:04 a.m. PT. The Fortnite Status Twitter account tweeted out shortly after, around 11:08 a.m. PT, stating that they noticed that players were unable to log into Fortnite beyond the initial loading screen provided on every platform.
[Update: June 20, 2023, 11:49 a.m. PT]: The servers seem to be slowly coming back online following around 45 minutes of being offline.
This login error in Fortnite comes shortly after the official launch of the Fortnite X Nike collab, which brings a whole range of new cosmetics and even a free back bling inspired by the brand’s new shoe. While unlikely, it could be that this partnership and cosmetics were so popular that they caused the servers to crash.
However, given that Ranked mode was disabled earlier today due to instability, it’s more likely that there was some kind of error caused by the update that forced the servers offline. This is just speculation and we’ll need to wait for word from Epic Games itself to understand what’s going on.
This is a developing story and more will be revealed as it becomes available. Make sure to check back at Try Hard Guides for all the updated Fortnite server issues.
