Fresh Start, a relaxing single-player sim about cleaning and restoring the world from developer Chicken Launcher and publisher Awaken Realms, has announced plans to launch on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5.
Fresh Start originally launched in December 2022 and is available now on PC. An exact release date for the console versions has not been confirmed. However, pre-orders are available now via Signature Edition, where the product page states that Fresh Start is “coming soon and will be available from all major retailers”.
Today’s announcement came with a new gameplay trailer, showing off a variety of environments and key mechanics, over on the Merge Games YouTube channel:
The trio of Chicken Launcher, Awaken Realms, and Merge Games currently have a similar port in the works. Casual farming sim No Place Like Home is slated to launch on Xbox Series X|S and PS5 later this month, and it also concentrates on environmental themes through cozy gameplay.
There are also a variety of cleaning sims already, notably PowerWash Simulator, which has recently been collaborating with massive IP like SpongeBob SquarePants, and Warhammer’s on the way.
However, Fresh Start has a neat globetrotting premise. It introduces an unlimited range of vistas, and the constant travel is very free-spirited. And although cleaning is the central mechanic, there are plenty of other quests and interactions.
For example, players can feed animals and solve some light puzzles. At its heart, Fresh Start plays more like an exploration game than a traditional sim, which is sure to help distinguish it.
Like any casual game, Fresh Start is almost certain to thrive on the Nintendo Switch, offering relaxation on the go. Its small-budget graphics may not benefit very much with a PlayStation 5 release, though.
