Garden In!, a soothing gardening and sandbox game from developer Dramatic Iceberg and publisher Bonus Stage Publishing, has announced that everyone is invited to try the upcoming update.
Following the milestone of 100 “Very Positive” reviews on Steam, the devs are letting the entire community try out the first major update. Here’s the announcement tweet from Bonus Stage Publishing:
Since Garden In! first launched in January, there have been a series of small patches, all of which have mainly contended with frustrating bugs. And those updates have certainly been important, since the game is designed to be relaxing, and that can be compromised by small snags.
However, a major update should bring some interesting content, and the new blog post today teases that the preview playtest should roll out soon, “maybe as soon as next week”.
Literally everyone is invited, including those that do not already own the game. Those players would receive a code and have it revoked later on, allowing absolutely anybody to give some constructive feedback.
It’s an impressive gesture, and probably a wise decision to help build the fanbase a bit more. Garden In! already rests in a niche genre. It hasn’t received nearly as much buzz as some of the publisher’s more complex hits like Figment 2: Creed Valley, an action-adventure sequel that’s already received lots of praise.
Ideally, the “first bigger update” will bring some new content, too. The possibilities are endless, much like any garden simulator, thanks to the staggering variety of plants to choose from. But the key to Garden In!’s appeal is its tone, with its charming art design and mechanics that offer enough freedom. Anything from new music to quality-of-life overhauls could make a big difference.
