Garden In!, an upcoming garden sandbox game from indie developer Dramatic Iceberg, has just revealed that it will launch on January 26th, 2023. According to a new tweet from publisher Bonus Stage Publishing, Garden In! will be available on Steam, Epic Games, and GOG:
Garden In! was developed by a very small team based in Turin, Italy, so they don’t have an existing library of games to compare. However, they also seem to be working on Racoonie: Legend of the Spirits, a cute adventure game. While it’s certainly more elaborate than Garden In!, it’s clear that Dramatic Iceberg is interested in making cozy and friendly games.
Many garden simulators are designed to imitate the relaxation and dedication required from actual gardening. For example, Nacon announced Garden Life last month, but even that indie looks far more elaborate than the mechanics in Garden In!.
The brief trailer accompanying today’s release date announcement feels more like a comfortable mobile game, so hopefully it shows up on the Nintendo Switch sometime. Garden In!’s setting is snug, and the mechanics look rather streamlined, even if each plant has its own needs.
There’s an emphasis on customization, and fortunately, players will have the chance to create hybrid breeds. In fact, you’ll also be able to adjust the background colors. There appears to be a lot of freedom for players to orient the game as needed to maximize the calming tone.
Although Garden In! probably isn’t the most accessible game, fans of the genre and hobby will surely be pleased. Each plant has very distinguishable features, vibrant and colorful enough to maintain interest, yet simple enough to make decoration easy. There’s some potential in this one, and it’ll be intriguing to see how Dramatic Iceberg elaborates on their brand with Racoonie: Legend of the Spirits.
