The Gran Turismo World Series in-person event has just released a new trailer teasing its big arrival in Amsterdam. Ticket sales are officially open today, and a new overview page has been posted with complete details about the event. A Manufacturers Cup is set for August 11th, 2023. The Nations Cup will follow on August 12th, 2023, featuring 12 key teams.
The competitors qualified through Gran Turismo 7, which first launched last year and is available now on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5. You can watch today’s new Gran Turismo World Series 2023 trailer on the PlayStation YouTube channel:
Today’s new event site also mentions that guests who purchased a Platinum Weekend Ticket will also gain access to a screening of the upcoming Gran Turismo movie, on August 10th.
The film has gained a lot of buzz since the official trailer first launched last month. Rather than inventing some random narrative nonsense to adapt the game outright, the story will instead focus on a true story about the game. The trailer had a great sense of humor, an underdog premise, and an impressive cast.
As a result, the movie is almost certain to boost popularity in both Gran Turismo and its live events. It definitely makes the Platinum ticket worthwhile, especially for the superfans who would be likely to attend the World Series Showdown to begin with.
Further, Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi will make an appearance following the screening, where some insight about the franchise’s future might slip through. There’s a lot of careful marketing synergy here, but there’s no denying the appeal of the story at the heart of the film and the thrill of a live event.
