Handlock Decks – United in Stormwind

If there ever was a case that Blizzard was pushing a deck onto a class it would be Handlock in the Hearthstone United in Stormwind expansion. They have received so many tools to make this deck archetype work that if it doesn’t, it will be a pretty big failure in a lot of people’s eyes. Not only did they get a bunch of Warlock based cards that help the deck, they’ve also received many neutral cards that will out the rest! If this deck list is ever going to make a comeback in Hearthstone then the time is now.

Let’s take a look at some of the cards that Handlock was given in the United in Stormwind expansion. There’s Encumbered Pack Mule, which functions as an early game aggro stopped and adds an additional card to your hand when drawn. Package Runner is a 3-mana 5/6 that can only attack if you have at least 8 card in hand, which you hopefully will! Dark Alley Pact will be your giant type card, that will create a big minion for your opponent to have to deal with. There’s also Spice Bread Baker, who will hopefully be able to keep you alive in the early and late stages of the game. Finally, there’s Anetheron who is an 8/6 who will cost 1-mana if your hand is full! That’s quite a package of cards that will possibly bring this deck into the meta.

Another card to mention that is being looked upon as possibly broken is Entitled Customer. This is the board sweeper that Warlock requires in minion form. It deals damage equal to your hand size to all other minions. Not only can you clear the board, but you also end up with a usable minion!

Keep in mind that you should be very careful about crafting any new cards or decks when a new Hearthstone expansion is released. The power level of decks is hard to predict, and a list might be powerful one day and weak the next. The meta is always evolving in the early stages of an expansion release, so consider waiting before making any decks if you’re on a budget!

Trump’s Soul Fragment Version

Trump leans heavily on Soul Fragment synergy in his first version of Handlock for United in Stormwind. These fragments can be helpful to keeping you alive, as well as getting a wide board later in the game with Soulciologist Malicia. You’ve got a lot of the powerful stuff that was added in this expansion in the deck as well. We’ll see if leaning on fragments is the way to build this list!

SilentNick’s Taunt Version

This was an interesting version I came across on Twitter. Instead of leaning on Soul Fragment, this version goes heavy on taunt, which is closer to the traditional version of Handlock. With all of these big minions, why not force your opponent to chew through them? If you can get yourself to 8-mana, you will have Archwitch Willow to play who will bring those high cost demons in your deck onto the board. This would act as a big swing, and hopefully either win or turn the game around for you.

Recipe Version

The deck recipe called, All in your Hand, that you can open up when you select the option to make a Warlock list is seemingly pretty solid. Overall, it uses a lot of the cards you’d expect to see in this style of list, however, cards that gain abilities when your deck is low on cards are questionable.
