The Final Fantasy Fan Fest was viewed as a large success by the fandom, announcing the release of a new expansion and the plan for the title to release on Xbox. Something that seemed to be missed by most is that the heads of Xbox and Square Enix both committed to bringing more of the publisher’s titles to Microsoft’s console.
After the announcement that Final Fantasy XIV would be coming to Xbox systems, the head of Xbox Phil Spencer was joined by Square Enix CEO Takashi Kiryu. The two shared their appreciation for the partnership on Final Fantasy XIV, but Kiryu stated his hope to bring more Square Enix games to the console, as documented by a Square Enix news account on Twitter.
After Kiryu made the above statement, Spencer doubled down in agreement by saying, “We look forward to building on the relationship that brought FF14 to Xbox and partnering with Square Enix on future games.” Yoshida then reiterates this and then all three of the members shake hands to celebrate the collaboration between themselves.
In the past, Square Enix has largely focused on releasing its titles on the PlayStation, Nintendo, and even on PC, but rarely Xbox. Now it seems the two companies have come to some kind of agreement and are willing to publicly express that during the Final Fantasy Fan Fest. The announcement of Final Fantasy XIV coming to Xbox seems to only be the first of upcoming titles.
This is a developing story and more information will be added as it becomes available. Make sure to check Try Hard Guides for all the latest news about Square Enix games coming to Xbox.
