Blade Ball Sentinel Boss Event Guide And How to Beat

The Sentinel Boss mode is a timed event for up to 16 players, but you can play with a minimum of four. Initially, everyone starts with a health bar of 3, and if you’re hit more than three times, you’re temporarily out until the next stage. The event ends if all players lose their health, and you’ll need to wait for the next one.

You’ll get rewards based on how much EXP you earned during the fight. You get EXP from defeating enemies; the better you do, the more EXP you’ll get. So, always aim to participate and do the best you can. Even if all of you fail, you’ll still get rewards based on how many chests you earned by getting EXP.

Sentinel Boss Phase 1

In the first phase, your adversaries are the Royal Guards, equipped with three sections of health bars, meaning you have to hit them three times for them to die. They launch balls at players, which you must deflect to prevent damage. Alongside this, they emit yellow shockwave stomps that you need to jump over to dodge.

A helpful tip for avoiding these shockwaves is to position yourself on higher ground, though be aware that this tactic might not always work and could be patched in future updates. Look at the image below for the higher ground.

Sentinel Boss Phase 2

This phase introduces you to the Sentinel Boss. Deflecting the boss’s balls back at him is the key to inflicting damage; he requires 30 hits to be defeated. The Sentinel Boss has a repertoire of attacks, including launching purple balls, yellow stomps, a red laser, and a Flame Breath attack.

Most can be avoided by staying on the higher ground, as you did in Phase 1. However, the red laser WILL hit you if you don’t jump over it, so stay aware of that attack.

  • The purple balls cannot be deflected, so you need to move left to right to avoid them.
  • Yellow stomps can be jumped over or avoided entirely by moving to higher ground.

  • The red laser moves from one end of the arena to the other. You MUST jump over it to avoid it.

If you get close to the boss, he’ll unleash two more attacks: a flame breath and an air laser attack, and he can use them both simultaneously. But if you keep your distance, he shouldn’t use these attacks.

  • The flame breath sprays blue fire from his mouth in one direction.

  • Air laser attack fires multiple blue lasers at the floor and will spin in a circle, hitting everyone in the radius.

Once 30 hits have landed, the Sentinel will go into Phase 3.

Sentinel Boss Phase 3

Now, Phase 3 is Phase 1 and 2 combined. You have to evade everything you’ve been evading already, but now you have to defeat the Royal Guards while deflecting balls to hurt the boss, as well as the Royal Guards. Hit the boss 11 times to win. As you can tell from the image below, this is brutal and pure carnage. You can use the high ground again to avoid the yellow stomps and close-range attacks, but the red laser and multiple incoming balls will hurt you.

If you are very lucky, you can get a Secret Phase 4 in Blade Ball.

Sentinel Boss Secret Phase 4

Reaching this phase pits you against two Frost Dragons. Their attack pattern includes spraying red lasers on the ground, which are challenging to dodge. They provide some safe areas, but precise jumping is essential as the lasers constantly move. Additionally, they attack with purple balls and blue fire. Deflecting the homing balls while avoiding the fire is key to surviving this phase.

A specific spot in the arena provides safety from their attacks, allowing you to focus solely on deflecting the balls. However, be aware that this spot might be removed in future updates to balance the boss fight. The area where to stand is shown in the image above and below.

Blade Ball Sentinel Event Rewards

Rewards in the Sentinel Event are based on the amount of EXP you accumulate and the number of chests you unlock by hitting EXP thresholds. Successfully completing the Secret Phase offers a chance for unique rewards that might not be available otherwise.

These rewards include the Dragon Sword, Worm Emote, coins, and Dragon Spins. As far as I know, the most coveted prizes, such as the Dragon Katana, Evolved Dragon Sword, and Draconis Emerald, are exclusive to the Secret Phase.

Remember, there is no guarantee that you’ll get the Dragon Katana even if you defeat the secret Phase 4.
