Featured Roblox How To Enable Voice Chat

Voice chat is a relatively new addition to Roblox, and it allows for players to communicate with each other by using a microphone on their PC or mobile devices. The platform has done quite a bit to make sure it is safer for players to use by implementing age restrictions. As long as you are older than the restriction and can prove it, you are able to get voice chat to work in Roblox. If you are of age, we’ll show you how to complete the process of enabling it in this guide.

How to get Voice Chat in Roblox

To enable voice chat in Roblox, you will need to be age 13+ with a Driver’s License, Passport, ID Card, or Residence Permit. You will also need a smart phone with a camera to verify your identification, and to take a selfie of yourself to prove that you are indeed the person you are claiming to be. If Roblox is able to verify that everything is in order, you will then be able to use voice chat in games and experiences.

First thing to do is have your identification available. This can be a Driver’s License, Passport, ID Card, or Residence Permit. If you are younger, you might not have any of these. If you live in the United States the one to get is the ID Card, which can be obtained from the DMV. You will need to get your parents involved, and all of the information to get one can be found on the DMV website.

Once you have your identification ready, you will need to login to your Roblox account on your mobile device. You can go through a web browser, but you will need a phone or tablet with a camera either way.

When you have logged in on mobile, tap on the button on the bottom right with that has a circle and three dots inside of it. This takes you to the “More” area, where you can scroll down to find the Settings option. Tap on that button to enter the Settings menu.

Roblox Mobile Settings Location

From the Settings menu, tap on the Account Info option. This will take you to the area where you can edit various things like your display name, username, and verify your age within the application.

Roblox Verify My Age Section

Tap on the Verify My Age button which should be right below where you have entered in your birthday. Make sure your birthday is accurate to what is listed on your ID.

This will now either give you a QR code to get started if you were doing this in web browser on a PC, or it will take you to the Veriff page where you will need to provide your identification and selfie. If you got the QR code, you can open the camera app and point it at the QR code that is displayed in the menu. It should read it as a website, which you can then tap on and it will take you to the Veriff page.

On the Veriff page, you will want to tap on the button that says Start Session. You will then be asked to allow the application to use your camera, which you will need to do.

Now, place your identification face up on a flat surface and line up the frame that appears on the camera with it. You will then be asked to turn over your ID and scan the the barcode portion of it.

Once that has been completed, you will then be asked to take a selfie. Make sure that you are in a well-lit room and your face appears clearly within the frame. The application is going to match your selfie to the picture on your identification, so you have to make sure it is a clearly taken photo.

The Veriff application will now run through the process of verifying that you have completed the steps and did them properly. This process can take a little bit of time, so just wait for it to complete. If anything goes wrong, you should be able to repeat the step again.

If all things are accepted, you will be returned to Roblox and it will tell you that your age has now been verified!

You can now head back to Roblox and in the Settings area select Privacy. You should now see an area in the Privacy Settings labeled Beta Features and under it will be the ability to Enable Voice Chat. Tap on the button on the side of the screen so that it appears green to enable the feature.

Roblox Enabling Voice Chat In Settings

Voice chat should now be working for you! Make sure you have your microphone hooked up to your desktop, or you allow Roblox to have access to your microphone in the app.

You will now need to enter into a game that has voice chat enabled. A lot of them do, but you can verify this by opening up the game page and looking at the bottom area where it has all of the stats for the experience. You should see something says “Voice Enabled” and as long as it says Yes underneath that it should work.

To test it out, you can head into the Ro-Chat game, which is specifically made to chat with other players.

That’s everything you need to know about how to enable voice chat in Roblox. Be sure to check out the Roblox section of our website for more information on everything you can do on the platform!
