Type Soul Bankai Requirements and Progression Guide

To obtain Bankai in Type Soul, you need to progress through several requirements to progress. First, ensure you have already acquired your Shikai, which is the initial step in upgrading your Zanpakuto.

Stage 1: Clan Wars, Ranked Wins or Raids

Choose one of the following challenges to complete: win 13 Raids, secure 7 Clan War victories, or achieve 20+ Ranked wins. I recommended completing 13 Raids, but the choice is ultimately yours on what you deem easiest.

Stage 2: Combat and Gripping Challenges

If a player dies during any part of this stage, they must restart from the beginning.

  • Defeat the Jindabo or Bawabawa boss once.
  • Eliminate 80 Hollows.
  • Successfully grip 15 Elite.

For gripping 15 Elite, it is advisable to collaborate with a friend. To eliminate Hollows, visit Soul Society or participate in Division 5 quests.

Bankai Progress Tracking

You can monitor your progress towards Bankai by visiting the NPC V in one of the large barns in Karakura Town. V’s dialogue varies based on your level of progress and serves as an indicator of your progress.

  • 0%: “You will never become anything compared to what I am.”
  • 20%: “A couple of kills won’t get you anywhere. Stop bothering me.”
  • 40%: “Why do you keep coming back? You’re still pathetic.”
  • 60%: “Maybe you’re not so bad after all. But I’m still not impressed.”
  • 80%: “You’re quite unbelievable; do you know that?”
  • 100%: “Unequaled. Unrivaled. Go make me proud, lil bro.”

Stage Three: Finding Kisuke in Karakura Town

In the third stage, you’ll need to locate Kisuke in the neighborhood side of Karakura Town. Look for yellow or golden bricks with stairs leading up to find him.

Once you find him, interact with him, and he’ll ask if you’re ready. Respond by saying, “I am,” and he will teleport you to a place filled with swords stuck in the ground. Here, you need to find your sword three times.

It’s a bit random, but try to find a sword positioned higher up and not surrounded by many others. If you choose the wrong sword, it will turn red and point you in a vague general direction to follow. Your sword is in that direction, so hope for some luck. You only have a few chances to get it right. After you’re successful, Meditate.

Stage Four: Defeating Your Bankai

Once you’ve meditated, you’ll be taken to the spirit world to defeat your Bankai. Speak to your Bankai and select Yes. This is probably the most challenging stage of all. It’s even harder than the Shikai fight and will probably take you several attempts. The difficulty will depend on your type of Shikai/Bankai, with types like Blood Bankai taking a very long time. Once you defeat it, you will have your bankai in Type Soul.
