Featured Pokemon Arceus Grit Guide

With Pokemon Legends: Arceus (PLA) being a new way to play the series, you will find that some of the familiar aspects from other generations are a bit different. One of these things is EVs or Effort Values. You will not find these in Arceus, instead you will have access to Effort Levels. These are a new form of stat that will help increase your Pokemon’s power! If you want to increase these, you’re going to need to obtain Grit items. We’ll tell you how you can get it in this guide.

First thing to note about GRIT is that there’s multiple types of it! Each type can increase your Pokemon to a higher Effort Level. Here’s a list of the types and the levels they can increase your Pokemon to:

  • Grit Dust – Raises Effort Levels to a maximum of 3
  • Grit Gravel – Raises Effort Levels from at least 3 to a maximum of 5
  • Grit Pebble – Raises Effort Levels from at least 5 to a maximum of 8
  • Grit Rock – Raises Effort Levels from at least 8 to a maximum of 10

As you can see, each of the items has a maximum amount they can raise your Pokemon’s Effort Level. You will need to collect all of these to upgrade your Pokemon to the fullest!

Obtaining GRIT Items

To get Grit items in Pokemon Legends Arceus, you can battle against Pokemon, complete quests, or release Pokemon from your pasture. These different methods can get you all the versions of Grit: Dust, Gravel, Pebbles, or Rock. You can also trade in less Grit items to upgrade it to a higher tier.

If you want to fight your way to Grit, then you will want to focus on Alpha Pokemon. These are the Pokemon you will find out in the wild that are much larger than average and have bright red glowing eyes. They will put up a pretty good battle, so be ready for a fight. If you can defeat or catch them, they have a higher chance to drop Grit items than regular Pokemon.

Most of the time when you get it as loot, you will get Grit Dust. While this is good in the beginning, it might become a bit annoying after you’ve leveled your Pokemon’s Effort Levels to three. If that’s the case, you can start upgrading to higher Grit items by trading them in at Zisu, who is an NPC that can be found on the Training Fields.

How to get Grit Fast

The best and fastest method to getting Grit is releasing Pokemon from your Pasture. You will get all grades of Grit, and the higher the level of the Pokemon, the higher the tier of Grit you will receive. To get this done quickly, you will want to mass catch Pokemon. This can most easily be done by heading to areas with Mass Outbreaks.

You can check your overworld map with the entire island in it to see where outbreaks are happening. They will be marked with the face of the Pokemon that is currently having the outbreak in the particular area. Travel to that region, and then locate the area where the outbreak is happening.

Many of that particular Pokemon will spawn at the location, which you can quickly catch by hurling PokeBalls at them. This gives you a bunch of Pokemon quickly, which you can then release at your Pasture. After they are released, you will be alerted that the Pokemon have left something behind. You will then get the various Grit of different types, based on the levels of the Pokemon that were released.

If you’re early in the game, you will only be able to release a single Pokemon at a time from your Pasture. This is increased as you rank up, so the farming method is better later in the game.

Mass Outbreaks are also great for Shiny Pokemon if that’s something you are interested in collecting.

Here’s a good video demonstrating the farming method:
