Hi-Fi Rush is centered around an aspiring rockstar, Chai, and his friends who have to fight against an evil corporation using rhythmic combat so that he can escape an experiment gone very wrong by battling department by department with a team of allies. If you’re playing Hi-Fi Rush and want to get S-Rank, we have a helpful guide on getting this achievement!
How to get S-Rank
To get S-Rank most easily, you’ll want to play through the storyline a bit so that you unlock the full arsenal of moves and upgrades available to Chai and then practice being on beat by using as many different moves as you can while timing them to the beat. You will need to get an S rating in at least two of the three scoring categories and then an A in the third category.
Each combat encounter will rank your proficiency with a letter grade with S-Rank being the highest possible, which can be achieved in all difficulty modes, but notably, easy mode may give you less room for error due to less opportunities for combos and bonuses.
There are three components that are measured to achieve S-Rank:
- Score: You will earn a higher score by using as many moves as you can while inflicting as much damage as possible in a fight.
- Just Timing: This is all about keeping your rhythm; it is all about the percentage of your moves (including dashing and jumping, not just attacking!) that land on the beat. To achieve S-Rank, you need 85%+ higher accuracy.
- Time: The faster you finish a battle, the higher your grade will be at the end, but you will want to balance quickness to completion with dealing combos. There is a “par time” that shows so you can determine this!
You can increase your score by achieving bonuses, which trigger automatically and display next to your score. These include bonuses like Magnet Link, where you’ll earn extra points for using the magnet to grapple instead of running between enemies or Aerial Rave, which is a bonus for attacking enemies midair. When you get multiple bonuses in a row, you can get a score multiplier (up to 10x) that really gets that score up quickly!
Keep an eye on your Reverb Gauge, which charges Special Attacks, and make sure to utilize it as it resets between battles, so there’s no reason to save it up. You will also want to see how the Rhythm Meter looks as you can actually be penalized with a “repeat” penalty if you use the same types of attacks, so you are rewarded for using a variety of moves.
You can also leverage your allies by using them to help break through certain enemy defenses and to keep combos coming when Chai is not in range of the foe. You can also tag allies and land Jam Combos that can unlock the Overkill bonus if it finishes off an enemy.
We hope that this helpful list of tips and tricks gets you an S-Rank in Hi-Fi Rush’s battles! Check out more of our Hi-Fi Rush coverage.
