Smalland is an open-world survival game where players explore a vast world from a small perspective. Players can traverse various landscapes such as forests, swamps, and ruins, while discovering hidden NPCs that provide lore and knowledge. The game also allows players to tame and ride various creatures, from grasshoppers to spiders. If you need help knowing how to tame a Grasshopper in Smalland: Survive the Wilds, we have the recipe for the Grasshopper treat and a guide on taming this creature!
How to tame a Grasshopper in Smalland: Survive the Wilds
To tame a Grasshopper in Smalland, you will need to craft the Grasshopper treat, which requires 3x Insect Eggs, 1x Petal, and 2x Seed Oil. As this is one of the first creatures available to tame, the recipe for its treat is automatically unlocked at the start of the game, and the ingredients required are readily found while out and about in the early game.
The Grasshopper is excellent for using as a mount to jump around and allows the grasshopper to jump from virtually any height without taking fall damage, though it cannot land in water! They easily drown or just die immediately if the water is deep. They will attack other creatures they encounter after they first run away, and they are not the most durable and can die easily so you’ll want to keep an eye on them. To heal the Grasshopper, you’ll want to drop food in front of them, and they eat most of the available food items in the game.
To tame creatures in Smalland, you’ll need to have their preferred treat in your inventory (but doesn’t have to be in your actual hand), which you’ll be able to offer and feed to the creature after you’ve hit it below 50% health. Keep in mind, you need to unlock the Cauldron in order to craft treats.

| Ingredient | How to Get Ingredient |
|---|---|
| 3x Insect Egg | Kill Ladybugs |
| 1x Petal | Chop down flowering plants like Mauve Plant |

Remember, you can only have one tamed creature at a time, so you will need to release one before you tame another. It is important to consider what you want your tamed creature to do so that you can tame the right one for where you are in the game.
