Wall World, an upcoming roguelite, mining and tower defense indie from developer and publisher Alawar Premium, will officially launch on April 5th, 2023. It will be available on Steam, where you can play a demo of the game and wishlist it now. Here is the full release date trailer from the Alawar Premium YouTube channel, which explains key mechanics and shows off new gameplay:

Wall World will probably bring Dome Keeper to mind, which recently added the free new “Springloaded” update earlier this month. Both of them involve many of the same mechanics, and even a similar gameplay loop.

However, the art design and verticality in Wall World are definitely going to provide their own flavor, with sharper and more colorful imagery. Dome Keeper can feel rather grim and apocalyptic, and Wall World appears to lean into splashy sci-fi fun. The robospider, tools, and environments are over the top in just the right way.

The alien creature designs also reinforce that aesthetic, with playful twists on classic monsters. The cthulu-esque balloon creature in the final shot of today’s trailer is very creative. Even with just a glimpse, you’ll want to learn more about the in-game lore.

Also, the central verticality of the gameplay is a simple and brilliant premise. The titular walls create a unique visual challenge all on their own, and today’s trailer shows off some neat action that takes advantage of the perpetually upright environments.

It’s important to note that Wall World’s Steam page mentions both weather conditions and a day/night cycle, which are difficult mechanics to employ but really make the world live and breathe. The sheer worldbuilding is going to put more emphasis on the thrill of exploring in Wall World.
