The upcoming sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man will not include a co-op mode, as confirmed by the game’s developer, Insomniac Games. This clarification was officially given on the developer’s Twitter account, quashing hopes of players eager to share the Spider-Man experience with friends as Peter Parker or Miles Morales in the meticulously crafted universe.

The absence of a co-op feature in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 might come as a disappointment to many. The expansive world developed by Insomniac Games appeared ripe for such dual play, potentially offering an engaging way for friends to navigate the game’s detailed environment together. Unfortunately, that will not be the case.

While details about the highly anticipated sequel remain sparse, expectations are high for more information to be disclosed at the PlayStation Showcase scheduled for May 24th, 2023.

Developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 follows its predecessors Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. It builds on the narrative inspired by the enduring comic book mythology and various other media adaptations, focusing on the characters Peter Parker and Miles Morales as they encounter the symbiote Venom.

Coinciding with the game’s release, Marvel Comics launched a tie-in prequel comic on Free Comic Book Day in May 2023. Authored by Christos Gage, who also wrote Marvel’s Spider-Man, and illustrated by Ig Guara, the comic takes place after the events of Miles Morales. The narrative grapples with how Peter Parker, Miles Morales, and Mary Jane Watson manage their individual responsibilities alongside their obligations as Spider-Men in New York. The comic showcases The Hood as the primary antagonist.
