IO Interactive, the developer and publisher behind series like Hitman, Freedom Fighters, and Kane & Lynch has announced that it is opening a new office in Brighton, UK, to help develop the upcoming James Bond origin story codenamed Project 007.
In the press release sent out earlier today, IOI announced that the core team is already in place, but it seems the developer will be hiring for major roles out of the office including a Senior Character Artist and a Senior Game Producer. The developer announced that it will be continuing the development of Project 007 at this office, in association with others, bringing the iconic character home.
This new office is the fifth that IOI has opened, adding to those in Copenhagen, Malmö, Barcelona, and Istanbul. The press release makes it known that the developer currently has three games in development it’s willing to talk about, including Project 007, Project Fantasy, and Hitman. Little is known about the first two titles, but Project 007 has captured the interest of fans of the known secret agent.
IO Interactive has a website dedicated to Project 007, but not much is known outside of the fact that it’s a brand-new Bond story that shows how he earned his status as an agent. With years of experience making the Hitman series, it seems like IOI would be in a perfect position to tell the story of the secret agent. The developer has managed some impressive things in that series, putting it in a unique spot for Project 007.
It seems we’re still a far way out from this new James Bond game, with Project 007 expected to release after March 2025.
