GigaBash, the indie multiplayer brawler featuring massive kaiju and heroes from developer and publisher Passion Republic Games, will officially be released on Xbox tomorrow. This port will coincide with the previously announced Nintendo Switch version. They’ll release together on August 4th, 2023, at 12 AM JST.

GigaBash originally launched in August 2022, and is available now on PC and PlayStation. The game picked up even more steam when it added an official Godzilla universe DLC. To review some GigaBash gameplay, you can watch the old DLC trailer on PlayStation’s YouTube channel:

GigaBash is a relatively streamlined and friendly game that captures all of the splashy action and fun that fans of the genre could possibly hope for. Rather than simply relying on IP or nostalgia alone, it was a superb game first. It showcased enough comprehension and passion for these types of stories to eventually earn Godzilla characters later on.

The game has become an absolute staple among brawlers over the last year, and now that it’ll be supported on all major platforms, it will definitely renew interest. The game already has broad appeal, thanks to its arcade style gameplay, variety of modes, and multiplayer support.

GigaBash boasts local and online multiplayer, and even couch co-op in Onslaught. This makes it one of the most comprehensive multiplayer experiences anywhere, and not only among its peers.

The Nintendo Switch port made a lot of sense, because GigaBash would definitely benefit from some mobile play. However, it should thrive on Xbox the same as it did on PlayStation, capitalizing on next-gen tech and potentially heading towards a subscription service.

It’s possible the Xbox port couldn’t be announced until the last minute because it wasn’t certain to be ready, so hopefully it will have a smooth launch.
