The newest Legends of Runeterra expansion has just dropped! The Darkin Saga: Awakening promises to be the first in a three-part saga featuring everyone’s favorite monstrous race on Runeterra: The Darkin, ancient god warriors sealed for eternity in magical weapons, hellbent on corrupting those foolish enough to seek their power so that they might reap the very world itself. With hype for this expansion exploding as players get their hands on the new cards, many experimental deck guides are flooding the market, but there is no “meta” deck for Kayn just yet.

Legends of Runeterra Kayn deck guide

This guide, which I’ve curated myself and lovingly named “Darkin Nasus” or “Kaynasus,” combines Kayn’s incredible killing power with the buffs and debuffs only available to Shurima. The goal of this deck is basically to use Kayn and your supporting kills to wrack up a ton of kills with the scythe master, buffing your Nasus to incredibly high stats by the time he meets the board.

This deck was put together on Mobalytics.gg, where you can view the deck yourself. If you want to copy this deck directly into LoR, use the deck code below.

Your ideal opening hand consists of Kayn and Baccai Witherclaw. If you’re having trouble getting your champions when you need them, consider taking out some copies of Nasus or Kayn and replacing them with Rite of Calling. If you go this route, try to keep at least 2 copies of Kayn and one copy of Nasus in your deck.

You want Kayn on the board as soon as possible, followed shortly by Baccai Witherclaw. We use Witherclaw’s passive in tandem with Kayn’s challenger keyword to debuff the targets Kayn attacks. Nasus shouldn’t be on the field until his stats are at 10/10.

Use your spells to keep Kayn alive. Ideally, you should be dropping plenty of Lucky Finds on Kayn to supply him with sats and keywords, with Spellshield being a particularly useful one. If you find your Kayn is struggling against removal cards, throw in a few copies of Chamber of Renewal or Soothsayer in there to keep him buffed.

The beauty of this deck lies in its simplicity. Kayn is a tough card to get rid of, and with constant buffs you’ll find him lasting on the board indefinitely. With all the kills he’ll wrack up, your Nasus will hit the board an unstoppable stat beast, making comeback for the enemy virtually impossible. For a huge finisher, throw an equip on Nasus and play Utter Devastation (or save Nasus until after this card is played.) Watch as you wipe an entire board and buff your Nasus immensely in the process.
