The Yakuza series, now Like a Dragon, has seen continuously successful releases over the last couple of decades with no sign of slowing down. However, one gaming reporter believes that Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name will be a digital-only release in the West due to a tweet from the official RGG Studio account.
Wario64, a known gaming reporter on Twitter, retweeted the RGG Studio tweet that specifically denotes that the next title will be “available for download” on Nov. 9. There is no mention of a physical release in the tweet and this is further corroborated by the fact that Eurogamer reports that there is currently No physical ESRB version rated for Like a Dragon Gaiden.
Kiryu was thought to be retired when Ichiban became the main character alongside a new group of friends in Yakuza: Like a Dragon. However, Kiryu will have at least two more stories with the release of Like a Dragon Gaiden and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, which will see both Ichiban and Kiryu partially in the United States.
Like a Dragon Gaiden will follow Kiryu having to fake his death and erase his name to protect those he cares about. However, even while trying to hide he’s forced to once again get involved in a new conflict when a mysterious figure tries to force him to come out of hiding. Players will be able to see in the game for themselves when Like a Dragon Gaiden launches on Nov. 9.
