Serenity Forge and Dingaling Productions have shared news of the upcoming LISA: Definitive Edition, a side-scrolling RPG set for release across multiple platforms. This includes PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, via both Steam and Epic Games Store. This edition is slated for release on July 18.

The Definitive Edition will be available as a bundle, including both LISA: The Painful – Definitive Edition and the sequel, LISA: The Joyful – Definitive Edition, at a price of $24.99. They can also be purchased individually, with LISA: The Painful – Definitive Edition priced at $19.99 and LISA: The Joyful – Definitive Edition available for $9.99.

LISA: The Painful – Definitive Edition, the updated version of the original game, offers players a story-driven RPG experience in the post-apocalyptic wasteland of Olathe. It conceals a morally destructed world beneath its seemingly humorous exterior. Gameplay is shaped by forced choices that the player must make, resulting in lasting implications. This can include anything from physical sacrifice to inhumane torture to ensure party members’ survival, creating a stark exploration of selfishness and heartlessness as survival mechanisms.

Following the original, LISA: The Joyful – Definitive Edition provides the concluding part of the series. As Buddy, players explore Olathe in an attempt to redress past wrongs and gradually uncover truths about their family, the monsters, and the men in power.
This Definitive Edition offers enhanced features, such as high-definition graphics, pixel-perfect intelligence scaling, and a 120 frames per second mode for PC and current-gen consoles. New elements have been introduced, including fresh enemy and boss fights, quests with unseen battles and dialogues, and additional narratives with multiple endings. The revised battle systems now showcase new “Warlord Skills,” updated timed attacks, and a user interface overhaul.
Further enhancements also incorporate new border art overlays for wide-screen viewing, over 20 Definitive Edition-exclusive songs in a new music player, and an easy mode termed ‘Painless’ for players seeking a less challenging experience. Controller features will make use of Switch HD Rumble, PlayStation DualSense haptics, light bar, adaptive triggers, DualShock, and Four DualSense speaker audio. With the addition of 12 new localized languages, this edition is more accessible to global players.
