Mario Kart Tour has just released a brand-new gameplay trailer for the upcoming Yoshi Tour, which is scheduled to roll out on April 4th, 2023. It begins at 11 PM pacific time, and will run through May 4th, 2023, until 8 AM CEST.
The new Yoshi Tour is set to feature the fan favorite character Poochy as a new racer, as well as a Yoshi’s Island themed track and a GBA Yoshi Desert track. You can watch the full Yoshi Tour Trailer on the official Nintendo Mobile YouTube channel:
The Super Mario Bros. Movie premieres next week, so a lot of fans were naturally expecting some sort of tie-in and may feel a little disappointed. While a tie-in would have been very rewarding, there’s no question that Mario Kart Tour is still keeping up with Mario Kart Deluxe 8 by releasing little blue shells like Poochy now and then.
Poochy is a helpful supporting character that helped Yoshi out a lot in Yoshi’s Island. Not just with enemies, but with progressing through the environment in some way or another. Poochy’s arrival hints at the potential for even more racers to join in soon.
Yoshi’s Island is a brilliant game, with a cozy, handmade art design and fascinating Baby Mario mechanics. The level design was also very creative, with obstacles and boss battles that required a different kind of timing thanks to its spitting, throwing, and other Yoshi abilities.
There were lots of different Yoshis to unlock, each of which had unique powers. It’d be neat to see some of those other colors show up in Mario Kart Tour too.
Today’s trailer was maximum nostalgia, with all of the familiar sound effects, and of course that classic soundtrack theme.
Although the track was confirmed with an obvious tease earlier this week, the new trailer proves that Mario Kart Tour has smartly translated the spirit of Yoshi’s Island into a terrific track. The background landscapes are a perfect match, as well as little details like the red arrows.
