Shortly after Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope released some gameplay footage today, the devs announced a new showcase that will premiere on June 29th, 9 AM pacific time.
Here’s the official thread with the big announcement, which includes a brief invitation from Davide Soliani, the game’s creative director:
After being announced last year, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope finally showed off a lot of new details today for the Nintendo Direct Mini Partner Showcase. This included an official release date of October 20th, 2022.
You can review two full minutes of footage from the game by checking out the 11-minute timestamp in Nintendo’s showcase here:
The latest crossover will revolve around mysterious new creatures called “Sparks”, which have an energy source that enemies from space want for themselves.
Encountering enemies will trigger a turn-based battle. Players can freely move characters around before using their unique weapons, allowing powerful combinations with dash. Like any other turn-based strategy game, finding the ideal team meta is key, as well as using the field to your advantage.
The Nintendo showcase footage closes with a tease that players could also use Bowser, who has actually joined the team and their cause this time.
The graphics look tidy, and the scale of the narrative this time around is arguably more interesting than the previous installment. However, there is a touch of formula in this one, so one can only hope for the best.
The original game was released five years ago, and it was an absolute hit, so fans are relieved to finally get some news about the sequel. You’ll be able to watch the new showcase on Ubisoft’s official YouTube or Twitch channels.
