The start menu for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was leaked and is pretty shocking

The start menu for Spider-Man 2 was leaked, and it isn't as friendly as we'd expect the webhead to be. We have the Twitter video here.

This start menu for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 isn’t the friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man-type cinematic we were expecting. Instead, you can see Peter in front of a tank of ooze that holds the symbiote of Venom. It’s kind of somber as it looks a lot like the tank that held Harry Osborne in the first game. It really does look kind of menacing, so really not what we would have pictured.

The video was leaked by a Twitter user known for posting leaks and news about PlayStation, Xbox, and anything gaming industry-related. When asked if they would reveal anything else, they stated that the purpose was only to release the start menu and nothing else.

From what we can see, it looks like Peter Parker’s relationship with the Venom symbiote will be purely scientific at first. Researching, observing, and studying it. The symbiote looks like it’s alive, floating, and idly waiting. We already know that eventually, Spider-Man will work with the symbiote to fight, so we may see a scene where it breaks out.

That’s all we can garner from the starting screen, besides an image of a woman with blonde hair on Peter’s clipboard. We won’t try and make assumptions on that, because it could really mean anything. While this may just be a starting screen to some, it’s definitely something that is worth watching.

It’s so unexpected and because it’s so sinister, it feels like the game will really take a shift in tone whenever Peter is near the symbiote and Venom. The music is what really sells the ominous nature of the scene, but there’s more to the game than we see here.
