Publisher and developer Dinosaur Polo Club has revealed some exciting updates arriving in Mini Metro and Mini Motorways as part of the celebration of the 10th Miniversary.
Mini Metro and Mini Motorways are 2D puzzle strategy simulation games that challenge players with designing and managing transportation networks. Mini Metro focuses on rail transit systems, while Mini Motorways revolves around traffic networks.
The first iteration of Mini Metro launched in April 2013 as an entry for the Ludum Dare Game Jam. Even while in Early Access, Mini Metro, has received generally favorable reviews, owing to its minimalistic visuals yet progressively challenging gameplay that truly puts players’ wits to the test. Today, Dinosaur Polo Club celebrates the 10th anniversary of Mini Metro with a special update, dubbed the “Miniversary Update.” This will feature an exciting crossover with Mini Metro‘s follow-up, Mini Motorways.
Last month, Dinosaur Polo Club announced that they are bringing a Mini Metro map to Mini Motorways. The community was given an opportunity to choose one from 30 iconic Mini Metro maps they would love to see cross over into Mini Motorways. The vote was narrowed down to four powerhouse cities, including London, New York City, Paris, and Hong Kong. Eventually, New York City was selected to join the roster of crossover maps coming to Mini Motorways.
The world-class New York City is expected to offer brand new obstacles as players make the transition from metro lines to bustling streets. Furthermore, this crossover map comes with a suite of new avenues to explore for players old and new. The Miniversary Update will also feature three crossover maps coming to each game, for a total of six new maps. The three newest maps will add a new element to the Mini Motorways puzzle, requiring players to plot their roads around the metro lines in their respective cities. Another exciting highlight of this update is the introduction of Trains in Mini Motorways.
The Miniversary Update is coming to Mini Metro and Mini Motorways on July 24th.
