Moving Out 2, SMG Studio and Devm Games’ anticipated sequel to the hit moving sim, will officially launch on August 15th, 2023.
Moving Out 2 will be available on PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, and current or last-gen PlayStation and Xbox consoles. Just a couple of weeks ago, the devs announced there would also be physical editions available this year, though no limited editions have been revealed. You can watch today’s new release date announcement trailer on publisher Team17’s YouTube channel:
Moving Out 2 may have drawn many comparisons to Overcooked, but that’s hardly a bad thing when the execution is still perfectly cute and entertaining. The art design of this world is vibrant, colorful, and unexpectedly friendly. It also helps that it’s populated with fantasy characters.
However, the most thrilling thing about Moving Out 2 is surely the physics-based problem-solving. It continues to impress in today’s trailer, and the teamwork is definitely appealing. All of the teasers have smartly emphasized the addition of online multiplayer.
Working together to complete puzzles is always fun, but particularly when they’re physics-based. Aside from Overcooked, gems like Human Fall Flat also benefit from the element of chaotic surprise that is certain to result.
A variety of people trying to complete the same task, while objects fly around with amusing physics, are great for a laugh and even encourage players to get creative. Fortunately, the game will support cross-platform gameplay, and is set to be available on every major platform.
There’s still plenty of time until launch, so there will definitely be more marketing. But anyone who isn’t won over by today’s trailer is probably going to remain uninterested, since the game is pretty straightforward.
