Couch co-op games aren’t as common as they once were, so titles like Overcooked and the original Moving Out are special in how they’re keeping the genre alive. In the first game, players worked together to clear houses and move furniture in wacky scenarios. With the sequel Moving Out 2 announced to be coming on August 15, this year, it’s been revealed there is a demo coming to Steam on Monday, June 19.
The demo will be happening during the Steam Next Fest and it will give players an opportunity to try out six different sample levels ahead of the release in two months.
The release date announcement came alongside a trailer showing an updated look at the gameplay and some incredible new moving-level mechanics. There’s also a cartoon showing different characters traveling through the world doing their jobs intercut with footage of actual gameplay. Moving Out 2 looks to be much more complicated than the first title, and that’s saying something.
Some of the key features detailed in the press release include a whole range of new locations thanks to the interdimensional travel themes. The Furniture Arrangement and Relocation Technicians (F.A.R.T.s) have the technology to travel between dimensions, allowing them to help anyone who needs to move their stuff from one place to another.
As it was a key feature of the first game, the co-op will also return, allowing players to engage with the game as allies or against each other as opponents. There will also be an Assist Mode to help players who are having issues, ideally making the game more inclusive for all players to enjoy without limitations. Many interesting and new movers have also been added, making this title feel completely new.
Moving Out 2 will have a Steam demo on Monday, June 19, 2023, before launching on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.
