Looking to get into My Hero Academia? Are you a returning fan, trying to catch up before the next season? Maybe you’ve got a big binge party coming up and need to know which order to stream the hit series to your friends? Whatever your reason, having an accurate My Hero Academia watch order list is important to experiencing the series the way it was meant to be watched, and we have you covered.

My Hero Academia Watch Order

My Hero Academia or Boku No Hero Academia (also referred to in the short hand as MHA or BNHA) is a huge animated series with a lot of content to watch. The popular anime has 5 seasons, several OVAs and a few movies under its belt. Simply viewing this content in release order will mess with the chronological viewing of MHA and lead to a lot of contextless and confusing moments. Because of this, our list is assembled in chronological order for your viewing pleasure. Some content is viewed as flashbacks, which are better enjoyed with an understanding of the characters.

With all that in mind, here’s how to start watching My Hero Academia.

  1. My Hero Academia: Season 1 – I don’t have to make a case for you to start MHA at season one. This sets the foundation for every main character in the show, and any MHA content you absorb down the line simply won’t be as enjoyable without taking in this season.
  2. My Hero Academia: Save! Rescue Training! (OVA) – Save! Rescue training is the first OVA for MHA. It recounts the events of the U.S.J. arc in season one, and shows off some special training for Class 1-A. This episode isn’t vital for the plot of MHA, making it a great little break between the drama of the main show.
  3. My Hero Academia: Season 2
  4. My Hero Academia: Training of the Dead (OVA) – Training of the Dead is the second OVA and serves as another plot-unrelated side adventure for the cat of MHA. It takes place right at the end of season 2, with the cast returning from their internships to a special lesson at school.
  5. My Hero Academia: All Might: Rising (Special Episode) – All Might Rising is another special episode that serves as an anime adaption of the one-shot manga of the same name. It peers into All-Might’s past, showing us his beginnings as a hero.
  6. My Hero Academia: Two Heroes (Movie) – Two Heroes is the first MHA movie and is separated from the main story of the anime. While visiting the world’s leading hero items expo, class 1-A get tangled in a theft gone wrong and must carefully save the day without endangering the hostages caught in the mix.
  7. My Hero Academia: Season 3
  8. My Hero Academia: Make it! Do-or-Die Survival Training (OVA) – Make It! Is a two-part special episode and the fourth OVA for the series. Like the other OVAs, it focusses on some special training for class 1-A, giving further context to their hero education.
  9. My Hero Academia: Season 4
  10. My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising (Movie) – Heroes Rising is the second MHA movie. Class 1-A is sent to Nabu Island and given the chance to do real hero work. The trip feels almost like a vacation, until a mysterious new villain with a familiar quirk shows up.
  11. My Hero Academia: Season 5
  12. My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission (Movie) – World Heroes’ Mission is the third MHA movie and the latest thing to come out for the series. Framed for a crime he didn’t commit, Deku must team up with Bakugou and Todoroki to save superhuman society.
