Gunbrella, a gritty action-adventure with noir and punk elements from developer doinksoft and publisher Devolver Digital, will officially launch onto PC and Switch on September 13th, 2023. The announcement came via a new trailer, which shows off some bizarre new enemies and side-scrolling action.
A brand-new demo for Gunbrella is now available for PC and Nintendo Switch. Also, an official post from Devolver Digital has announced that fans who pre-order Gunbrella now will receive a copy of doinksoft’s retro mecha indie Gato Roboto. You can watch today’s release date trailer on Devolver Digital’s YouTube channel:
Devolver Digital continues to impress with its publishing selections, as today’s new gameplay trailer doubles down on the boldness and strangeness Gunbrella has to offer. Even the distorted, accompanying music plays to the grim contrast of the game’s world, and sets a disarming tone.
But the newly revealed enemies have some terrific character design, and will be instantly recognizable. It’ll certainly be interesting to learn more about their lore.
Previous teasers, such as the “Multitool of the Trade” trailer, focused more on the mechanics, if you hope to learn more about the loop itself. Gunbrella’s titular weapon is flexible enough for a Kingsman, opening up some genuinely creative combat and movement.
Doinksoft may not have a vast library of developed games, but Gato Roboto is another memorable and successful oddity that has won a lot of goodwill with fans who played.
It features a cat in a mech suit exploring a deep space outpost, and that premise alone should be enough of a hook for anyone. It’s a terrific gesture that doinksoft’s hard work will help launch Gunbrella even farther as a pre-order incentive. Hopefully, Gunbrella will expand onto other platforms later on, though plans for other ports haven’t been confirmed.
